In order to pass the State Examination NT2 Programme I, you must be able to read, listen, write and speak at the B1 level. For the State Examination NT2 Programme II, you must master these skills at the B2 level. There are several ways you can work towards these language levels. You can follow a language course, study on your own and practise with example exams.
Language courses
A language course can be a fun way to work with a teacher's support to the B1 level (for Programme I) or B2 level (for Programme II). It does not matter what level you are at now; there are courses that offer comprehensive language training over a somewhat longer period, as well as trainings that prepare you in a few lessons for the State Examination NT2. In every province in the Netherlands, there are language schools offering these types of courses. In most language schools, you can follow both group classes and individual classes. The costs of a language course vary: what you pay depends on the school, the type of course and the duration of the course. On the website StaatsexamensNT2.nl there is a list of all language schools offering a course for the State Examination NT2 (Programme I and / or II).

Course materials
When you follow a language course, you usually use the lesson method chosen by the language school. But if you want to study on your own, you can choose from many different kinds of lesson materials. It is sometimes difficult to choose a lesson method from the wide range. We therefore describe a number of situations below, and we give advice on the lesson materials that fit best.
